The Cross of 10s
Numerological Correspondences of Decanate Number 10
~10~
Malkuth/The Kingdom

Your Decanate Number is 10 and corresponds to the 10th sphere of the Tree of Life entitled Malkuth or 'The Kingdom.' 10 is a Double Mutable zone that really "grounds" all Mutable signs as the seasons wind to a close just before the Solstice or Equinox point. It represents the grounding or "actualization" of an entire seasonal process before the beginning of a new one. This is fitting as the 10th sphere of the Tree of Life corresponds to the Earth, the base or "ground" of the entire schemata.
All Mutable Decans, the 8s, 9s and 10s, are grounding forces. People with these Crosses in particular understand the importance of remaining grounded during the transient, that is, "stability through change," and no other decan embodies this more than the 10. Being so connected to the Earth, 10s in particular are closely tied to the world around them, and in a quite visceral and experiential way. 10s are "naturals" as the number 10 itself is a number of mastery and total completion leading to brand new beginnings. But, with 10s there may arise the perceived inability to truly finish anything in order to begin something new. 10s are very tied to things, and it can seem quite difficult to let something go and begin anew with something fresh. This is due to the extreme levels in which they are invested in every area of life. But, to the 10s credit, they are usually gifted and talented in many different ways because of these investments. The transient does not affect them too much as they can adapt to their environment and use it to their advantage like no other Cross. The only "issue" is when it comes down to initiating change oneself, not merely being at the mercy of whims of outside influences or circumstances.
This deep connection to change is partly through the 10s connection numerologically to the 10th card of the Major Arcana, the Wheel of Fortune. There is a certain level of inner "wealth" within the 10, or rather, a "fortunate" streak which can pull them through; certain skills and talents that allow them to be highly functional individuals in whatever it is they are involved in. In a sense, they are role models for the other numbered Crosses in that their naturalness shines through in everything they do.
As seen on the Modality page, the 10 is within the 4-7-10 column, (also take note of the 1st column of cards in the Numerology section of the Major Arcana page). The 10 really feels the depth of these numbers and what they are capable of in the world. The 4s, 7s and 10s represent the end of Signs, the Mutable Column, and hence ground that "energy" so there is a solid foundation for the numbers that follow in different Signs and Modalities. For the 10 in particular, embracing the reality of change is very important. As in the "hose" analogy discussed on the Modality page, the Mutable signs themselves represent the part of the arching stream of water that is close to the ground (8s and 9s) and even hitting the ground itself (the 10 Decans). Within this "water" is great experiential sustenance for the worldly knowledge and general "know how" of the 10. The Jimi Hendrix song Are You Experienced? would actually be a really good theme song for anyone with a 10 Cross. The lyrics themselves are very "10."
If you can just get your mind together
Then come on across to me
We'll hold hands and then we'll watch the sunrise
From the bottom of the sea
But first, are you experienced?
Have you ever been experienced?
Well, I have
For 10s, one might say the world experiences them just as much as they experience the world. Physical objects are not dead and even form quite close relationships with 10 individuals. In other words, the world is very much alive "from the bottom of the sea." Many are familiar with religious and new age philosophies that brand the material world as "evil" or as being some kind of "trap," that it is "dense" and/or "limited." These aphorisms should really make the 10 shriek. For 10s, the depth of experience in the world is so complete, vibrant and visceral that the "spiritual" world and the "material" world become blended in very intimate and intricate ways. One could say that the spiritual and the physical are indeed the same thing, only different spectrums that may compliment and speak to one another. This is summed up perfectly in the Alvin Boyd Kuhn quote from The Ultimate Canon of Knowledge sited elsewhere on this site:
...Spiritual realizations are not in an upper world, but are cognate with the existent order... Nature's works acquire meaning in the "commentaries" they provoke the mind to make upon them; they seem to bring mind to a kinship with the life expressing itself in them. Mind imputes to nature its own values retroactively or in reflection, but nature plants the first impressions. "The mind spreads and soars in proportion as body feeds on the surrounding world." Consciousness sees nature from the point of view of its own ideal interests and measures the flow of things by its own ideal standards. It translates nature into the categories of its own conception.
Useful cards for the 10 to contemplate are found within the 1st column of cards in the Numerology section of the Major Arcana page. This is the column of 1-4-7-10-13-16-19-22, or, The Magician, The Emperor, The Chariot, Fortune, Death, The Tower, The Sun, and The Fool. The cards most harmonically aligned to the 10 within this series are The Magician, Fortune and The Sun, though a contemplation of all 8 cards is recommended.
